So much is going on in the month of October for me and I wanted to highlight all the good things that have me reflecting on how blessed I am to live the life that I do.

I’m currently writing this post from my parents’ home in Phoenix, AZ, where I’ve come down to visit my ailing father. The last time I visited was pre-pandemic, back in mid-January. Since then, my dad’s health has declined rapidly, and he’s had surgery and radiation for melanoma that’s reached his leg bone. It’s so difficult to see him in such pain and be unable to do anything for him. And my mother, bless her soul, is doing the best she can to care for him even though she’s not in the best shape, either, and struggles to walk.

I know so many of us go through these hardships and it’s tough to manage and know what to do in these situations. Especially when we don’t live near our families, which is the case in my case. If you read this and have suggestions on how to manage these things from afar, I’d greatly appreciate an email with your thoughts.

But I digress. This month has also been a celebration, which included a new book releasing (Stuck-Up Big Shot in all formats) and my sports romance, Game Changer, which won the 2020 RONE Award prize for best romance in the Cops, Jocks and Cowboys category! What an honor and I’m so humbled by the recognition given this single father of a special needs boy and nanny romance.

I also just released a new audiobook. My 3-book menage serial, Reckless: The Smoky Mountain Trio is now available in ebook, print and in Audible. Narrated by the amazing team of Kylie Stewart and Teddy Hamilton, this 9.5-hour audiobook is an epic, steamy tale of an unconventional love between London, Cameron and Sage, three lifelong friends who soon realize their love is something unique and special.

You can listen to it on Audible here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KDWDKBT

And lastly, I’m saying goodbye to my 40’s as I turn 50 on October 28th. While it’s not the birthday bash I had hoped for, at least I’m able to celebrate it with all those that I hold near and dear to my heart.

Stay tuned for upcoming teasers of the third and final book in the Change of Hearts series, Change of Course, which will be releasing in early December.

Until then, Be Sweet, Love Hard and Read Dirty.

Did you have a crush in high school? Or perhaps one that wasn’t returned? I had several, and one in particular was a senior when I was a sophomore, a hockey player who I admired from afar and who would flirt with me every once in a while but nothing ever came of it. Oh, my poor, heartbroken teenage self!

In my upcoming October 11th Cocky Hero Club release, Stuck-Up Big Shot, that’s exactly what my character, Sutton Fuller, goes through all throughout her teen years. In love with her best friend’s older brother, Miles Thatcher, who never looked at her or thought of her as more than a little sister.

Until one night…

Oh, but I don’t want to spoil things for you just yet.

Stuck-Up Big Shot is inspired by the Stuck-Up Suit line by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward, and if you’ve read their Cocky Bastard series, you’ll really enjoy this book with cameo appearances from Graham and Soraya Morgan, Ben Schilling and of course, Blackie the dog.

What’s even more exciting is that this is the first book of mine that will be released in all three formats – ebook, print and audiobook – all at the same time!

Be on the look-out for more details of Stuck-Up Big Shot and likely a giveaway during release week.

And as always, thank you for your readership.

If there’s one absolute truth in our life, it’s that we learn and grow as we gain more experience. That concept applies in our careers, our marriages and relationships, parenting, etc. And it’s also a fact as a writer.

My debut novel, Physical Touch, released over 6 years ago in July 2014. I was an unknown writer, didn’t know a thing about writing or publishing, but I was adamant I’d figure it out. After writing the book, I scraped together enough money to find a freelance editor and a book cover designer to get me started.

And now, six years and 27 books later, here I am, still learning something new every day. The one thing this quarantine has taught me is how to become self-reliant and figure things out on my own. In doing so, I decided to teach myself how to design a book cover. This is something I never even attempted to try because I don’t have an eye for design. However, new tools and easy to use templates gave me a starting point.

After many trial-and-error attempts, I finally landed on a cover design I felt good with using and decided to give all four books in my Physical Series a makeover! Ta-Da! I present to you, the newly recovered series.

They are not perfect. And honestly, I had to go back to my normal cover designer to ask for help in creating the print book jackets because that took a lot more know-how than I had at my disposal.

The point of all of this, though, and what I’m trying to share, is that we’re never too old or too stuck in our ways to learn something new. To hone new skills. To try something we’ve never done before. And while this pandemic and the current times we’re living through has been extremely difficult on all of us, I also think there’s some positive we can find if we really search for it.

If it’s one thing this experience has taught me it’s that the world is changing for all of us in so many unprecedented ways and that I must change with it. I can either look at it as a burden and a difficulty or turn it over and look for the positive underneath it all.

Stay positive, my friends. We’ll get through this together.

Xoxo, Sierra

Ps: Another thing I’ve learned to do is create and record YouTube author interviews. Check out my latest here: https://www.youtube.com/c/sierrahillbooks in my segment called Sierra Talks Books with Authors. And thanks to my wonderful video editor, Saby Z. for her expertise and help!
